Project Overview 

The Atlantic Blvd Area and Upper Segment Multi-Use Easement has been identified as a key opportunity site along the Lower Los Angeles River and the City of Vernon in the 2018 Lower Los Angeles River Revitalization Plan. Conceptual plans will allow for the City of Vernon to buy and create a park that could enhance and create active space for the community.  

Location 

Project located in the City of South Gate, Maywood, Bell, Cudahy, and in the City of Vernon at Atlantic Blvd and Slauson Ave. 

Some of the various features being developed include:  

  • Riverfront Park and modified low flow channel 
  • Improve river trail on levee  
  • Community garden and public art  

Potential benefits include:  

  • Restore habitat and create open space  
  • Enhance connectivity and create vibrant public spaces 
  • Increase community green infrastructure and environmental education
